Carp fishing in the summer? Find the best summer boilies in this article. Learn when to use a krill boilie , squid boilie , or a sweet boilie , and why!
Carp baiting behavior in summer
Carp are cold-blooded animals. This means their body temperature is the same as that of the surrounding water. Their bodies are therefore at their warmest in summer, when the water temperature is highest. Therefore, carp's digestion functions optimally during this period.
In summer, carp are feeding fervently and can easily digest foods with high nutritional values. Besides natural foods like mosquito larvae, crayfish, and snails, boilies are also high on their list of favorites during the summer months!
Which boilies in the summer
Almost any boilie works well in summer, but a good quality boilie with a high nutritional value makes all the difference. This provides carp with the energy they desperately need during the summer months. If a carp realizes a boilie gives them energy, they'll keep coming back for it, increasing your chances of success!
The best boilies for summer are fishmeal boilies with a high nutritional value, such as krill boilies or squid boilies . These boilies contain ingredients like krill and PD fishmeal that are similar to the natural bait carp eat. This allows them to quickly find and accept the bait.
Sweet boilies in the summer
Sweet boilies, like Scopex boilies , also perform well in summer. Especially on waters with plenty of natural food and aquatic plants, these boilies can make a real difference, as their scent and flavor are more distinct from natural bait.
Be careful not to choose cheap, sweet boilies with little nutritional value. While instant boilies can work perfectly well, carp will quickly realize they don't get much energy out of them and will therefore be less likely to return!
How many kg of boilies to feed per day in summer
A question we often encounter when carp fishing in the summer is how many kilos of bait should you feed per day. There's no single answer to this question, as every fishing venue is unique.
If you know there are a lot of carp on a water, a good rule of thumb is to feed about 1.5 kilos of boilies per day (500 grams per rod). Spreading the boilies over a larger area will keep the fish swimming vigorously to feed, making them easier to hook.
How many kg of boilies to feed when fishing in the summer
Bait the water for two or three days before heading to the water's edge. Don't add any bait immediately, but fish with a single hookbait first. If you catch fish within half an hour to an hour, chances are your boilies have all been eaten.
After catching the fish, you can add about 300 to 500 grams of bait per rod, and from then on, it's just a matter of seeing how your session goes. Are you still catching fish quickly? Then you can safely add 500 grams or even a little more per rod. If it takes longer for another bite, be careful and reduce the amount to 200 to 300 grams until you get another bite.
Good luck with your summer fishing!
